Troubleshooting

A few common questions and fixes. For quick answers see the FAQ.

System requirements

Tuning Editor runs on Windows 10 or later (64-bit). The installer is self-contained and adds the required Microsoft Visual C++ runtime automatically, so there is normally nothing extra to install. See download and installation.

A protected file will not open

A .mtxCol can be protected by an external and/or internal password. If a file does not open automatically, make sure the matching passphrase is in your password ring, or that the correct external password is set. See file security.

Recovering a damaged collection

The .mtxCol format is self-healing and can repair localised corruption on its own. If you kept the optional .rec parity file next to the collection, keep the two together for the best chance of full recovery. You can raise the recovery strength for new saves on the General tab of Preferences.

Online features do not work

The online services need an internet connection and a signed-in account. Check that you are signed in (see online account); a search-rate limit may also briefly pause repeated searches.
