Overview of the software interface

When you start DTC Remover, the main window holds everything you need to clear fault codes from an ECU file. This page is a quick tour of its areas (Figure 1).

Select ECU

The Select ECU panel is where you choose the control-unit type the file belongs to, so the program knows how to read and edit it.

Select BIN file and error code

This is the working area for a job:

Source — the .bin file you are working on. Use the browse button beside it to open a file, or press Scan to read the fault codes already present in it.
OBD Code and MAN Code — the fault codes to act on: the standard OBD code (P-code) and/or the manufacturer-specific code.
Disable / Remove — how the code is treated (explained in Removing fault codes).
Checksum — recalculate the file checksum after the change.
DTC OFF — apply the change and delete the fault code.
Save — save the cleared file.

Toolbar

Buttons along the toolbar open the supporting tools:

Presets — saved sets of fault codes, offline and online.
Script Editor, Tools and the Hex editor — advanced utilities.
Share — send the file to, or fetch it from, the multifunction application (DPF Remover).
Settings — language and program options.
About — version and information.

Status bar

The status bar at the bottom shows your dongle ID and the days remaining on the licence (click it to reactivate for another 60 days when fewer than 15 remain), a message for the current operation, and a link to open the log window. Elsewhere on the screen you will also find links to View Online Help and to Search for a similar file online.
